Offering Professional Development Opportunities for Scholar-Athletes

As we look to inspire and positively impact the scholar-athletes in our community, we want to provide professional growth opportunities, as well! By allowing our platform to be built by the scholar-athletes who will use it, they are able to take pride in their designs, creations, and accomplishments. The scholar athletes are now able to list their experience on a resume/CV, and they are able to have a discussion around their involvement in a growing organization.

Have you ever been passionate about a sport because you competed? Maybe you competed in high school or college! Either way, you understand the importance of athletic competition in our communities, especially for our middle school and high school student athletes. Tell us you’re passionate about providing opportunities to those who come after you. Have you ever wished someone would set up a system that was meant for you to win in? Well, that’s what we do here at Playbook Series Inc. and we need your help! This internship will allow you to find purpose in the community.

As a grant writing intern, you will support our development team by communicating with potential donors about the impact of our work. You will be responsible for conveying a message of excellence about Playbook Series Inc. and why the potential funding of our donor prospects would help us positively impact the community. As a grant writing intern, you will conduct research on issues related to student athletes of the inner city and their college admissions acceptance rates. Grant writing interns will also implement and develop international partnerships. Dreaming with us about ways to increase support for Playbook Series Inc. programs around the world will be remarkable.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Research potential funders, grant opportunities, and industry trends (aka online marketing)
  • Write and edit grant LOIs, proposals, and reports in collaboration with the staff grant writer (inspiring people to partner with us)
  • Assist Grant Writer with administration tasks (maintain organization)
  • Write and edit fundraising or awareness-raising materials (public relations)
  • Provide support to fundraising and communication efforts (getting involved)

Qualifications

  • You are sincerely interested in the mission of Playbook Series Inc. and the diverse communities we seek to empower.
  • You are a strong writer, editor, and proofreader
  • Your attention to detail and organization is top-notch.
  • You are motivated and willing to initiate, self-start, and seek out solutions.
  • You have savvy Internet research skills.
  • You are working toward a degree in communications, international development, nonprofit management, fundraising, journalism, or a related field.
  • You have knowledge/experience in community development and/or international travel is a plus.

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship. You will gain hands-on experience working closely with a creative, close-knit team who is inspired to achieve a lasting solution to low college admissions rates among underserved populations. We can also coordinate with your institution to offer academic credit for your experience.

Qualifications

This is a part-time internship that requires you to be available via Zoom video conferencing tool 10-15 hours per week for the duration of the internship. Hours and start/end dates are flexible. Below is a general timeline for the deadline and duration of internships. Applications are accepted year-round.

 

FALL | Internship Duration: September to December | Application Deadline: August 15

 

SPRING | Internship Duration: January to May | Application Deadline: December 1

 

SUMMER | Internship Duration: June to August | Application Deadline: April 1
